True Religion Jeans Birthday Cake

This cake was ordered at the last minute for a 16th birthday.  Her mother couldn't think of a cake design that she wanted, but she did say that her daughter loves designer jeans.

I have to admit, I have several pairs of these jeans, so we knew exactly how to make the tag!

I hope she LOVES it!  You only turn sixteen once.  Wasn't it John Mellencamp that said "Hold on to 16 as long as you can... changes come around real soon, make us women and men."

So true.

American Flag Cake

This is a cake that I made for a party at my home on the 4th of July.  I doubled my standard white cake recipe, and poured it onto two cookie sheets, to make a traditional sheet cake.  It's frosted and filled with homemade cream cheese frosting, and adorned with blueberries and raspberries.  Using the left over frosting, I piped stars in between the raspberry stripes. To make sure that I had 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes, I measured the width of the cake and divided by 13.  Then I made marks with a toothpick at the appropriate intervals.

I think it turned out fabulous!  Everyone ate it while we were watching the neighborhood fireworks.  What a fun day this was!
